JOANNE LEE
Joanne was born in South Korea and moved to America when she was 9 years old. She started playing the flute in America and started at Chetham’s at the age of 12. She studies with Katherine Bryan and Belinda Gough. She’s currently in her final year at Chetham’s and is hoping to continue her studies in America.

Joanne won the annual Chetham’s concerto competitions at the age of 12. She was awarded the Leverhulme scholarship for the National Children’s orchestra. She has performed and led numerous ensemble groups, chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra, wind band as well as solo in numerous venues such as the Bridgewater Hall and the Wigmore Hall.

Joanne was in the category final of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016. She has been awarded the 2nd, 3rd and honourable mention prizes at the Camerata Artists International competition in America. She has also been accepted to participate in summer courses in Curtis Institute of Music and Colburn Conservatory.

Joanne was recently awarded a special prize of $1000 at a festival in Shanghai.
